Dr. Louis Kuijs stresses Asia's role in the global economy, both in supply chains and as its own market.

<p>Louis Kuijs is a macroeconomist who has worked on and in Asia since 2004. He recently joins the economics team of S&P Global Ratings as Chief Asia Economist. Previously, he was the Head of Asia Economics at Oxford Economics in Hong Kong, leading the firm’s economic research on Asia, with a focus on China. Louis earlier worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland as Chief Economist, Greater China, and before that as Project Director at the Fung Global Institute. </p><p>From 2004 to 2011, Kuijs was a Senior Economist at the World Bank in Beijing, coordinating the bank’s macroeconomic work on China. He led the bank’s “China Quarterly Update” and its medium-term review of China’s 11th five-year plan. He worked as a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington from 1997 to 2004 on policy dialogue and economic research. </p>
